Where to start? I’ve leveled quite a few scopes over the years using all the ’this is the new best’ methods. Comparatively I think this is a pretty good one generally. You don’t need to worry about a plumb bob and wind and some space to hang it etc. You don’t have to worry about a lot of little things that other methods bring. But you do have to worry about the methodology this one brings!I’ll say the box it comes in is just fine. I saw some complain about it, but unless you just have to have a tactical plastic hard case, it’s just fine. The cardboard is plenty sturdy and the fitted foam works great. The only downside is if you have issues taking care of cardboard boxes or intended to carry it around roughly I guess. Your mileage may vary, but I’m sure you could find a hard case and simply transfer the foam insert and parts over to it. And I found the instructions to be fair and usable. They of course cannot give you steps for certain circumstances you should just be able to figure out on your own if you’ve been around. The built quality generally is quite good. The only part I think felt not premium was the mirror. It doesn’t feel CHEAP, but it is sort of lightweight and feels like it could do with some weight in the base. It did work just fine though.The laser module feels rather robust and my only complaint there is the battery type. It is definitely a less common cell and may prove problematic or costly at times. The laser does not activate until you insert the module into the cup adapter as the backplate serves as the connecting ‘wire’. In my opinion this is just fine. It also means you can flip the module around and insert it nose-first. This way it cannot activate so in theory you could leave the battery installed and there would be no way for it to come on unless you short out the contact points somehow. But that should not happen when it’s just sitting in the foam. The laser line could be of better resolution, but I think it works out fine as you can see from my picture.One of the things the instructions don’t tell you is how to deal with setups that don’t have rail forward of the scope. Well in that case you just leave the scope bottom rings mounted, remove the scope, mount the vertical alignment plate and go on. You don’t need the plate and the scope in place at the same time. Put on the plate, get the laser lined up on the plate, remove the plate, then mount your scope. Just don’t bump or adjust the laser in between! I do see a lot of room for user error using this kit. You must remove your muzzle device, you must be careful not to bump the module once aligned, etc.The things I remove any rating for is the combined mirror feel, the fit of the adapters, and the price could be a bit better for what you get.
